Inclusive and accessible communities
After an amazing celebration of Canberra’s rich, diverse and proudly multicultural community at the National Multicultural Festival, the ACT Government is taking the next steps in supporting multicultural communities.
In February 2023, the Multiculturalism Act 2023 became law. It supports the Territory's continuous growth and improvement as an inclusive city and celebrates our multiculturalism and diversity.
The Act enshrines a new Ministerial Advisory Council for Multiculturalism to advise the Minister for Multicultural Affairs on issues of importance for culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
We want to hear from you on:
• Who should be included on the advisory Council
• How the Council should engage with community
• How the Council should report back to the community.
Based on your feedback we will finalise the Terms of Reference for the new Council to be established in September 2023.
