National Disability Strategy 2010-2020
The National Disability Strategy sets out a ten year national plan for improving life for Australians with disability, their families and carers.
National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
The ACT has fully transitioned to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) - a new way of funding individualised support for people with disability that involves more choice and control.
Disability Justice Strategy
The ACT Government is working to develop the Disability Justice Strategy to address the disadvantage experienced by people with disability in having equal access to, and treatment before the law.
ACT Carers Strategy
This document sets out a strategy to inform the enhancement of existing processes and development of new processes to support people providing care (usually unpaid), including foster and kinship Carers.
Disability Action and Inclusion Plans (DAIPs)
A Disability Action and Inclusion Plan is an organisation's framework and commitment to making its facilities, products and services more accessible and responsive to people with disability.
Easy English workshops
Developing skills in producing Easy English or Plain English information will ensure you can make your resources accessible to all Canberrans.
Supported Decision Making
In their joint project, Advocacy for Inclusion and ADACAS offer training to develop your skills in supporting people who need support to make decisions.
eLearning on disability, domestic violence and sexual assault
The ACT Human Rights Commission, with input from key organisations, has developed eLearning packages for disability workers and domestic violence and sexual assault workers to build awareness and understanding of the complexities experienced by people with disability.
Leadership development
The ACT Government is supporting the next generation of disability leaders through a range of programs and scholarships to equip them with the skills they need for the future.
Having a Home Forum
The Office for Disability hosted the Having a Home forum in November 2018 to start a conversation about housing options for people with disability in the ACT. This was followed up by the 2019 Having a Home Forum which provided information about how to plan for having a home.
Inquiry into the National Disability Insurance Scheme in the ACT
The ACT Government considered and responded to the recommendations of an ACT Legislative Assembly Inquiry into the implementation, performance and governance of the NDIS in the ACT.
Disability Rights Movement
The Disability Rights Movement is an international social movement to secure equal opportunities and equal rights for people with disabilities.
Shaping the next national disability strategy - beyond 2020
At the end of 2020 the National Disability Strategy will end and governments across Australia are working together to develop a new strategy for beyond 2020.
Information, Linkages and Capacity Building
ILC provides grants to organisations to deliver projects in the community that benefit all Australians with disability, their carers and families.
