Shower Stool Hire
A shower stool is a backless seat for the shower. It takes up less floor space than a full shower chair, which makes it a practical option for small shower recesses, ensuites and apartment bathrooms where a chair with arms would crowd the area. Because there is no backrest, a carer can also help wash the user’s back more easily.
Stools suit people who have reasonable sitting balance and core strength but find standing for a full shower tiring or unsteady. They are commonly hired after foot, ankle or knee injuries, during pregnancy-related balance changes, or by people managing fatigue from illness or treatment. If the user leans, slumps or struggles to sit upright without support, a shower chair with a backrest and arms is the safer choice.
Hire stools generally have height-adjustable aluminium legs and non-slip rubber tips. Setting the height correctly matters: the seat should let the user sit with feet flat on the floor and stand up without pulling on taps, towel rails or glass screens, none of which are built to take body weight. Pairing a stool with a properly installed grab rail and a handheld shower adds stability.
A stool can also be useful outside the shower. Some people use one at the basin while brushing teeth, shaving or drying off, so they do not have to stand for long periods. If it is moved between rooms, dry the legs and rubber tips each time so they keep their grip on tiled floors.
Round stools fit tight corners, while rectangular stools give a larger seat and some include cut-out hand grips. Tell us the size of the shower, the user’s height and what support they need, and we will help you decide whether a stool or a chair will work better.
