Compact Equipment for Braddon Apartments and Cottages

Braddon sits just north of Canberra’s city centre, known for the cafes and shops along Lonsdale Street and for its mix of heritage cottages and modern apartment buildings. That variety means bathrooms in the suburb range from original mid-century layouts to small, modern ensuites in mid-rise blocks.

Apartment bathrooms are often tight on space, with a single shower recess, a glass screen and a vanity close to the toilet. Equipment needs to fit without blocking the doorway or making the room harder to move in. A slim shower stool, a foldable shower chair or a freestanding toilet safety frame is usually easier to place than larger items, and none of them require drilling, which matters in strata properties and rentals.

Older Braddon cottages can have the opposite problem, with a bath and a step-over shower that suit a transfer bench and a clamp-on bath rail. In both cases, measuring the space first avoids hiring something that will not fit through the door or into the shower.

Strata rules in many Braddon buildings limit changes to common walls and wet areas, so permanent grab rails can take time to approve. Freestanding and clamp-on equipment gives residents immediate support while they wait, without affecting waterproofing or building finishes. When the equipment is no longer needed, it is simply returned, leaving the bathroom exactly as it was before.

People in Braddon often hire equipment after day surgery, a sports injury or a fall, or when a parent comes to stay. Tell us whether you are in an apartment or a house, the shower or bath size and any lift or stair access, and we will help confirm suitable equipment and availability.
