Imagine More: Home Drop-In Day

We understand that not everyone can attend peer groups, workshops, or conferences due to work and life commitments, but we know the importance of setting time aside for thinking and planning.

We want families to feel supported as they seek to find, establish and maintain a home for a person with disability.

So, we hope the Home Drop-in Day will help you carve out time to work on your next steps, troubleshoot any challenges or simply have a sounding board for your thoughts and plans.

Whether you’re just starting out or need help fine-tuning your plans, our hosts – Jan Kruger and Anne Keep – will support you throughout the day from our virtual kitchen table.

What you’ll get
Practical guidance
We will be a sounding board to test ideas and share what we know about any aspect of home, including

A Vision for home
Creating a home that is unique to the person
How to support the person to make decisions
The support needed and how it might best be provided
Housemates
Connecting with neighbours
Circles of support
Personalised support
Pull up a chair at our virtual kitchen table (on Zoom), and you will be able to speak with one of our hosts in a private virtual break-out space. These one-on-one chats will be offered on a first-come-first-served basis, and alternative times will be offered if our hosts are busy helping others.

Guest speaker
At lunchtime (12:30 pm – 1:30 pm), we will be joined by a guest speaker (to be announced) who will share their insights about supporting their family member to live in a home of their own.

Who should attend?
Families who:

Are thinking about what home might look like in the future
Are in the planning stages
Want help to solve problems their family members face in moving into their own home
Want help maintaining home for someone already living in their own home.
Please note that this event is open to family members only.

Bring your questions
Bring your questions, and we’ll do our best to answer them or brainstorm ideas with you.

Why a “kitchen table”?
During Imagine More’s earliest years, most of our work was done speaking with families around somebody’s kitchen table, often with a cup of tea close at hand. These informal, comfortable settings helped to foster open and honest conversations, allowing us to connect deeply with families and truly understand their needs.

We love the energy of kitchen table conversations and aim to bring this warmth and openness to our Drop-In Day. By creating a similar atmosphere, we want everyone to feel valued, heard, and supported and to encourage meaningful conversations.
