Are you exploring employment for a family member with disability?
Young people with intellectual disability are now embarking on employment journeys that include:

- meaningful work experience
- valued roles in open employment
- vocational learning and training, and micro-enterprises.

Many are using a Customised Employment approach to assist them on their way.

The essential first step of customising employment is the Discovery process. Discovery is an evidence-based approach that helps people with intellectual disability uncover their potential skills, interests, and workplace conditions that allow them to thrive and share this knowledge with their families and supporters.

In February this year, Milton Tyree (Marc Gold & Associates) held a workshop called Co-creating Employment with Discovery. This workshop explored:

- the benefits of starting the employment process with the person, not the job
- how to discover any person’s interests and potential workplace contributions – even if they communicate without words
- the importance of challenging conventional wisdom when it comes to disability employment
- how to translate everyday life activities into employable traits
- how to move from Discovery towards paid employment.

You’re invited to join us for two online workshops in which we’ll be answering your questions and providing tips for implementing Discovery for your family member.

Before attending this workshop, it is assumed that all participants are already familiar with the concept of Discovery. In case you need a refresher, we recommend watching the replay of Milton Tyree’s recent online workshop titled “Co-creating Employment with Discovery“, which can be found in the employment resources section of our website.

Your registration gives you access to both discussion sessions: we strongly encourage you to attend both.

Second session date: TBA - please check the Imagine More website.
