What is the ACT Public Service 2023-24 Vocational Employment Program?

The ACT Public Service 2023-24 Vocational Employment Program is a 12-month entry-level employment program, for:
• People with disability
• People from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds.
• Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
• Close family of serving or former members of the Australian Defence Force (such as their children or partners).

The ACT Public Service 2023-24 Vocational Employment Program offers a variety of entry-level roles across a range of areas from community services to education, justice and health services and including work that supports our environment and landscape here in the ACT.

What skills do you need?

To succeed in the ACT Public Service 2023-24 Vocational Employment Program, you will need to be able to:
• Deliver a high standard of customer and community-focused service.
• Build productive working relationships and deliver great results as part of a team.
• Behave respectfully to everyone and with accountability for your performance.
• Learn workplace policies and procedures and follow them.
• Work and study at the same time and apply what you’re studying to get even better at your job.
• Learn about your workplace and use your initiative to see what work needs to be done (or what could be improved!).
• Work with limited supervision once you have settled in.


The first stage in the application process will require you to:
• Provide evidence that you have valid working rights in Australia;
• Provide documentary confirmation of your eligibility to participate in the 2023-24 Vocational Employment Program;
• Provide contact information for two referees; and
• Respond to four selection questions.

Please note that successful candidates will be required to complete pre-employment checks which include a National Police Check.
