An Exploration of the Social Role Valorisation (SRV) Framework with
Regard to People who are Marginalised
A Foundations Forum workshop with Accredited Teacher of SRV Jane Sherwin.
Thursday and Friday 8,9, 15 and 16 September from 9am to 1pm
Open to NSW Residents
ABOUT THIS ONLINE COURSE:
This course teaches a framework for thinking when responding to the needs and interests of people who are at risk of being devalued. It will explore social devaluation and its consequences for people who are marginalised and how SRV can be used as a means of addressing those experiences of devaluation.
Participants will be asked to consider and discuss how individuals, human services and society contribute to the marginalisation of such people.
The course will inspire participants to imagine the good life and consider how we may support people who have been denied so many beneficial features of a good life, to have better lives and greater involvement in their communities.
Completion of this workshop enables you to attend the SRV practicum, called PASSING.
Who is this workshop for?
The course is designed for participants from a range of sectors including disability, aged care, mental health, youth etc. This includes manager, support workers, coordinators, family members, people with disability, people with a mental illness, older people receiving services, advocates, students, and educators.
Participants attending should be looking for ways of meeting the real needs of marginalised people, resulting in a better life, and who are interested in understanding more about Social Role Valorisation.
