Towards a Better Life Workshop
Support workers, education professionals, therapists:
Improve your ability to make a difference in the lives of the vulnerable people you work with
You’re invited to attend a groundbreaking course that will be held over four sessions in April and May 2022. Towards a Better Life will enhance your professional skill set by improving the way you support people who are vulnerable to:
- rejection
- isolation
- being seen as a menace, or
- not having any control over their life
…just to name a few of the wounding experiences of marginalised people in our society.
When you register, you’ll be joining a group of like-minded professionals and families who all want one thing: a better life for people they work with and care about.
You’ll be learning about a theory and framework called Social Role Valorisation, or SRV.
SRV is helpful in responding to the needs of individuals and groups with a devalued status. It provides strategies to access and secure the good things of life -
- lifelong learning
- valued employment
- authentic relationships
- a place to call home
- hobbies.
When people with disability are seen getting the good things of life this influences how others perceive them.
Who should attend
- Families (including parents, siblings and extended family members) and friends of
people with disability
- Members of their Circles of Support
- Members of their Support Team
- Proactive professionals
Organisations can use this course as cost-effective professional development for team members.
Your time commitment
