Employment Peer Group Meeting
Often it’s assumed by others that people with disability, especially intellectual disability, have few skills to contribute to a workplace. As a result, employment opportunities are rarely well-paid valued roles in interesting industries or organisations with an opportunity to develop new skills. Employment “opportunities” are more likely to be low-paid, part-time repetitive, boring or devalued roles, often in group (congregated) settings.
Our Employment Peer Group helps families to think differently about employment. We believe that all people with disability can work in open employment. We’ve seen many local families support their loved one with disability to find meaningful employment in valued roles across many industries. It’s our aim to see more people with disability enjoying stimulating, exciting and well-paid work roles in a broad range of workplaces.
We meet online via the Zoom platform
The meetings are free to attend but you must be a registered Peer Group Member
