Belconnen Arts Centre - Finalist for the 2019 Chief Minister's Inclusion Awards

Belconnen Arts Centre is a finalist for the Excellence in Innovation, Design and Access award at the 2019 ACT Chief Minister’s Inclusion Awards!

Belconnen Arts Centre (BAC) runs a dynamic suite of programs, including IGNITE: Alternative Arts Academy, a progressive contemporary and innovative arts collective for artists with disability, mental health issues and the d/Deaf and HOH (Hard of Hearing) and delivering a comprehensive and engaging collection of creative workshops within the centre and throughout the region. BAC advocates for and engages artists with disability as workshop leaders, performers, and producers, and generates employment and commission opportunities.

BAC has worked in collaboration with the ANU School of Art & Design in the development of new teaching resources for “Inclusive Community Arts and Cultural Development” practice and in creative partnership with Arts Access Australia to host Meeting Place 2019 in Canberra.
