Greg Ophel - Finalist for the 2019 Chief Minister's Inclusion Awards

Greg Ophel is a finalist for Excellence in Volunteer Support at the ACT Chief Minister’s Inclusion Awards!

Greg Ophel was born deaf and has been involved as a volunteer in the deaf community since 1990. He is a volleyball player for the ACT Dragons Volleyball Club and represented Australia at the 2005 Summer Deaflympics in Melbourne. His leadership skills have led to him coaching several ACT representative teams to success, winning Gold medals at the Australian Deaf Games.

His leadership and passion for sport has landed him roles as President and Sport Coordinator at DeafACT. His advocacy and volunteer work for the Canberra Deaf Club and Deaf ACT have been invaluable. Greg is a tremendous asset to the Deaf community in Canberra.
